How long for grips to dry

Again, make any necessary adjustments so the alignment aids are square to the clubface. You have about two minutes after slipping the grip onto the club to make all of your adjustments. Once the grip is aligned, don't touch the grip. Set the club aside, leaning it against a wall or table, for at least 30 minutes. Players with strong swings that generate high swing speeds often prefer corded grips. To some degree, the fingers and the palm of your hand have different needs.

Hybrid golf grips address this with a firm cord upper for control and a soft rubber lower for comfort. To regrip golf clubs is a simple, straightforward process. You may want to entrust the task to your golf pro. A pro can guide you through the many available grip options. A PGA professional can also help you with common questions.

Should you replace a worn out grip with the same style? Or, is it time to look at a golf grip that better suits your game? If you are confident in your selection of the new golf grip s you need, consider the DIY approach. You may want to wear rubber gloves to avoid contact with the deactivating solvent. Clamp the shaft near the lower end of the grip.

Point the face of the club toward the floor. Cut the old grip open. Cutting into a rounded surface requires care. Avoid cutting into a graphite shaft. Peel off the old grip and scrape the tape away. Remove the remaining residue with grip solvent and a clean cloth. Size up the new grip to determine how much of the shaft requires taping. Remove the paper backing. Add a little extra tape to the end of the shaft.

First, use build-up tape if you want to increase the final width of the new grip. Layer the tape to achieve the desired thickness. Use a golf tee to plug the hole at the end of the grip. Pour solvent into the open end of the grip. Cover the open end with your hand and shake to distribute the solvent.

Remove the tee and pour the excess solvent onto the grip tape on the shaft. Put a tray under the clamped shaft to catch excess solvent. If you are regripping more than one club, use the excess solvent on the other clubs.

While the grip tape is still wet, roughly align the grip and pull it down over the butt end of the shaft. Make sure the end of the shaft nestles into the very end of the grip. Fine-tune the alignment so the clubface and grip are square.

Allow the new grip to dry for several hours. This is the fun part. Head to the first tee and start playing with your regripped clubs! There are also environmentally friendly solvent alternatives like soapy water and compressed air. The big difference is in wait times.

The solvent-based approach requires about two hours of drying time. The water-based approach requires about 24 hours of drying time. Not a good choice for the smokers out there. Too much or too little of any type of grip lubricant can become a problem. For safety reasons we use HF grip solvent which is water based. It MUST be used with the correct tape or the tape will not be activated.

Any re-gripping problems are due to user error. All solvents normally used as a re-grip lubricant will dry in an appropriate amount of time if they are applied properly. It sounds as if you are using the correct amount of solvent when you re-grip. Thought i'd revive this old thread rather than starting a new one.

I've regripped plenty of times in the past with no trouble but this time circumstances meant I found myself without a work table and vice when I regripped my driver with a NDMC.

Apart from that the process seemed easy enough. While playing today i noticed that the butt end of the grip has the very tiniest wobble suggesting i've left maybe a mm gap at the end of the grip when sliding it on. Everything looks fine and the club seems to play fine but i thought i'd ask if this is likely to cause any issues with performance? The grip is well and truly fixed in place and seems to play totally as normal.

Maybe it's more of a psychological thing but i'd thought i'd check what any regripping experts think. Nothing wrong with that, but you could always pull and redo it. I've played clubs that have only dried for minutes before. Just put a little solve on, push grip on, seat it on the ground, then leave them upside down to dry. Thanks Ajlepisto, think i'm just looking for reassurance about the grip.

I don't have an air compressor to blow grips on or off, so i don't know any other way to take the grip off. As it's a NDMC it's not cheap so i don't want to sacrifice it. It's a barely noticeable slight wobble right at the butt end. As long as it shouldn't affect playability then i'm ok with that. It might not even be off the end.

Sometimes the grips are just kinda like that. I've installed hundreds of those specific grips and sometimes they just seem a little loose on the end but I think it's the material is just flexible. Other types of grips don't move at all, like Lamkin Crosslines.

Just make sure you seat the grip on the ground when you install them in the future to solve this issue. Thanks mate, i like your advice about seating them on the ground in future. I guess since this if the first vice-less grip application i've done, it's a learning curve.

But it's reassuring to know that the grip i've put on should be fine though. Thanks again I worked at a golf store and did a lot of the installs and club repair and I still do them without any tools in the backyard Literally, my wife holds the shaft and I slide the grips on, so I know all about figuring out how to do it yourself! This will help to fully seat the end of the grip cap, which can have some edges inside that catch.
